Mooi hotel, fijn zwembad

Dear Van der Valk Zwolle Team, I wanted to share my experience during my stay last Friday. Don't worry, this is not a complaint. Think of it more as a travel diary documenting my unexpected career progression over the course of one evening. I arrived around 20:30 after a long drive and was welcomed by your receptionist with genuine warmth. She even offered me a bottle of water, which, at that moment, felt like receiving an Olympic medal. She also kindly offered to reserve me a table for dinner. I had already eaten, so I politely declined, but I really appreciated the gesture. It was a lovely start to my stay and exactly the kind of hospitality one hopes for after spending hours staring at Dutch motorways. I collected my room key and made my way upstairs, dreaming of only one thing: a nice cup of decaf coffee. This is where my evening took an unexpected turn. The coffee machine apparently had other plans. My first attempt produced mostly disappointment and a small lake of water. The second attempt confirmed that the machine preferred modern art over coffee. I added water, emptied containers, cleaned out what seemed like the archaeological remains of previous coffee adventures, and after what felt like an intensive training course in Small Domestic Appliances, the third attempt finally rewarded me with a cup of coffee. By then I no longer felt like a hotel guest. I felt like the hotel's newly appointed coffee machine technician. Still, coffee in hand, I admired the wonderfully spacious room. The beautiful bathtub looked irresistible after my long drive, so I decided that a relaxing bath was exactly what my tired body deserved. The bath was fantastic. However, just before getting in, I noticed four neatly presented boxes containing shower caps for protecting your hair. Very thoughtful... except that I couldn't find any shampoo or soap anywhere near the bath. The only shower gel available was mounted inside the shower itself. So there I was, sitting in a lovely bathtub, briefly contemplating whether I should make a dash across the bathroom, dripping like a recently rescued seal, just to borrow some shower gel from the shower. I decided against creating that particular memory. Fortunately, by that point I was far too relaxed to let such a minor inconvenience spoil the evening. The bath itself was wonderful, and I happily soaked away the kilometres I'd driven that day. Feeling completely refreshed, I then visited the toilet. This was the moment my career changed once again. After flushing, the water simply kept running. And running. And running. I flushed another couple of times, wondering whether I had accidentally activated some environmentally ambitious irrigation system. Eventually, after two or three additional flushes, everything settled down. So there I was, ending my evening having successfully completed assignments as: Coffee Machine Repair Technician Bathroom Logistics Consultant Emergency Plumber Not bad for someone who had only booked a hotel room. Thankfully, the room itself was lovely, the bath was genuinely excellent, and your receptionist gave me such a warm welcome that none of these little adventures managed to spoil my stay. In fact, I found the whole experience more amusing than frustrating, especially since everything eventually worked out. I thought you might appreciate hearing about these little quirks, as they are probably easy fixes that could make future guests' stays just a little smoother and perhaps reduce the number of honorary maintenance staff checking in each evening. Thank you again for your hospitality. Despite my brief apprenticeship in hotel engineering, I had an enjoyable stay and left with both a good night's rest and a few funny stories to tell.

Welness stonden nog bekertjes van de dag ervoor. Weinig tot geen controlen op geen telefoon of camera. Mensen hielden hierdoor de bedjes bezet.

We hadden een wellnes suite. Geweldig wat een luxe. Heerlijk bed, geweldige badkamer en een aparte zithoek. Gedineerd in het restaurant en heerlijk gegeten. Geweldige keus bij het ontbijt. Kortom geweldige tijd gehad.

Kamer, diner, ontbijt en bediening waren uitstekend. Helaas moet ik mij schamen voor sommige andere gasten die bijvoorbeeld meerdere stuks fruit meenamen naar elders!
